Everything you need to know about green electricity

Green electricity purchased in the Principality of Monaco accounts for around 77% of total consumption. Green electricity is any electricity produced from a renewable energy source. This includes solar, wind and hydroelectric power, as well as marine, geothermal and biomass energy.

Unlike fossil fuels, renewable energies come from energy sources that renew themselves quickly enough to be considered inexhaustible on a human timescale.

Contracts with a capacity of 36 kVA or less are supplied entirely with green electricity.

Electricity supplied by SMEG under ‘Tarif GO’ contracts automatically benefits from a guarantee of renewable origin.

SMEG makes available to these customers, on its digital spaces, a Certificate of Renewable Origin certifying that the equivalent of the consumption of electrical energy supplied has been produced from renewable energy sources.

For business customers with contracts above 36 kVA: a voluntary approach through the Egeo offer.

Customers who subscribe to the Egeo offer are supplied with green electricity.

As with ‘Tarif GO’ customers, they have a Certificate of Renewable Origin certifying that the equivalent of the electrical energy supplied has been produced from renewable energy sources.
